Basic Skills

By 10 o’clock on Tuesday mornings, during term time, the Friary kettle is already boiling as students catch up on news and settle down to a morning of Maths and English. The lessons are open to all and have given Friary Drop-In visitors the chance to develop their reading, writing and maths skills at their own pace. The lessons have proved popular and students have enjoyed working at their own level, supported by a tutor from South Nottingham College.

The sessions are friendly and informal and invariably accompanied by generous amounts of tea and coffee. All the students have improved considerably and several have gained formal qualifications in English, ESOL and Maths. Congratulations to all!
