Friary Drop-In Allotment
Weather
wise our small, but hardy team of staff and visitors have experienced a
near typical year so far. The cold winter followed by a hot June has
certainly been beneficial to crop establishment. Unfortunately weeds
have appreciated it also, at present they keep us quite busy. Malcolm my
colleague has had a turn in the greenhouses this season, raising many
crops under heat.
Funds have been
generated in diverse ways including plant sales at Friary Drop-In and at
the Summer Gathering in West Bridgford park. In June an allotment open
day was held.
Karina a fellow
allotment holder and long time supporter of Friary Drop-In runs a
voluntary group and kindly sold our surplus on her Open Day. This being
the on the Sunday of the world Cup Final. A large cheque was generously
presented to Friary Drop-In.
With some new projects
planned for the autumn and the bulk of the crops yet to be harvested,
there is still plenty of work down at the allotments for new willing
helpers.
I would like to thank
the tireless band of loyal visitors for their time, hard work, ideas and
humour.
